Fast and positive conclusion needed from review of Greek programme
GUE/NGL President, Gabi Zimmer, met earlier today with Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, and discussed the situation in Greece.
Following the meeting, Zimmer underlined "the urgent need for a quick and positive conclusion of the review of the Greek programme, which would give a boost to the Greek economy and send a positive message to Greek society."
She also pointed out that "the Greek Government has honoured the July agreement by adopting numerous reforms, but it is up to Athens to decide which of the measures will meet the agreed fiscal targets."
"At the same time as Europe is facing unprecedented challenges, we should further support stability and growth in Greece and examine ways to put Europe back on track; enhancing solidarity, social cohesion and economic development."
