Questions raised as a result of press reports about the possible withdrawal of ENISA from Greece

Questions raised as a result of press reports about the possible withdrawal of ENISA from Greece

According to recent reports in the press, after the decision that was taken to dissolve the operation of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and transfer employees to Athens(1), ENISA is preparing to leave its base in Crete, with the aim of eventually leaving Greece altogether(2).
Given that it is an agency of particular importance for the functioning of the European Union, and at the same time its presence has only positive effects on the region of Crete, questions arise about the moves made towards withdrawing the agency.
In view of the above, could the Commission please state:
— Does it confirm the press reports about the withdrawal of ENISA from Crete and Greece in general?
— What are the reasons leading to such a decision and what does Europe stand to gain from weakening regions such as the Greek islands?
