Horse-trading and secret agreements between the EU and Turkey

Horse-trading and secret agreements between the EU and Turkey

According to documents published recently (on 16 November), the Turkish President had a meeting with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and the President of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, at which he declared that if he did not receive increased European funds, he would open the borders, sending refugees to Greece and Bulgaria and causing further deaths.
It has also been revealed that the Commission deliberately delayed the publishing of the progress report on Turkey, at the request of Mr Erdoğan, to make matters easier for him in the run-up to the Turkish elections.
Will the Commission say:
— Is it the case that Mr Erdoğan threatened to open the borders and cause the mass transit of refugees?
— Why were all these particulars not brought to the notice of the European Parliament in the debates on Turkey and the refugee question?
— Is there any truth in the reports of secret understandings with the Turkish side as regards delaying the publication of the progress report for internal political reasons in Turkey?
