"We are deeply shocked and sad about the events today in Brussels.
"Our thoughts and feelings are with the victims and their families.
"These cowardly terrorist attacks have hit the political centre of Belgium and the European Union.
"This is a black day for all of us. More than ever we will stick to our values of solidarity, peace and freedom."
