Meeting with the Commissioner of immigration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, for the major point of Puller refugees will have tomorrow, Tuesday December 16, Strasbourg, 16 members of the delegation, representing a broad political and geographical range of the European Parliament, beyond the frontiers of the European left. The meeting takes place in a follow-up letter sent to the Greek Commissioner, a few days ago, 31 MEPs from the European left GUE/NGL, the Greens (VERTS) and the Socialists (S & D).
In the letter, which was drafted at the initiative of MEPs of SYRIZA, Mrs Kuneva and Mr Chrysogonoy, urged MEPs to Mr Avramopoulos and the European Commission to take the initiative to deal with the situation of war refugees in Greece Hauler in cooperation with European and Greek authorities. The letter stressed that Greece cannot respond alone to the mass influx of refugees and to provide them with decent livelihoods. MEPs called for the activation of Directive 2001/55/EC on temporary protection for displaced due to war. The activation of the directive will allow the Syrians war refugees to seek asylum in countries where they really want to live with other members of their families, while allowing a balanced distribution of refugees in various countries of the EU. Also, 31 Meps were expressing, in the letter, their concern about the possibility of massive police intervention in order to dissolve their protest in the Constitution, which was held today at dawn with a company cleaner in Syntagma Square. It is recalled that the issue of refugees was already common Hauler question by 25 MEPs to the European Commission.
